Hello, my name is Carey and I am the owner and creator of Sticks & Stitches and I bet you're wondering how we came up with such a crazy name! Our business started with my love for sewing, quilting and creating. My family and friends always asked me, "What are you stitching today?" As our business grew we added the carpentry talents of my husband, Richard. Now you have it, Sticks for our custom wood products and Stitches for our sewn product line! |

| This is the little Singer hand crank sewing machine that my Mom used as a child. Her Mom and Dad gave it to her when she was about 9 or 10. My Mom spent countless hours teaching me how to sew doll clothes using this very machine when I was 8 years old. Can you imagine, turning that crank for hours at a time? During the summer of my 10th birthday I graduated to an electric machine and I have been sewing ever since! Unfortunately my Mom passed away on Oct 13, 2002 but this little beauty sits on a shelf near my sewing machine; keeping dear memories of Mom's encouragement and lessons near by. | |
I love collecting sewing and sewing machine related items - almost anything goes - framed art, water colors, teapots, clocks, and miniatures . Other interests include fresh floral arranging, collecting both pressed flower art, and floral art prints with birds which are focused mainly on hummingbirds and the NYS bluebird. Our country Holiday Gift Shop blossomed in 1989 with the renovation of an old farm building near our home in Marietta, New York. Sticks & Stitches is located near Otisco Lake in the south eastern region of the Finger Lakes of Central New York. We are members of the Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce. Skaneateles village dates back to the late 1700's and is a popular tourist area. So if you are in the area drop by and see us. | |
